It lies unmoving below an ancient spruce with beard moss, below the branches, on spruce's lumpy roots. It has lain there for a long time, hidden by detritus, turning to soil, feeling the touch of the land on its trollness.
The inert troll nestles against spruce's roots, feels the stream of vitality that the roots have raised below the ground. It draws impressions from the flow, letting it flow through its thinking, simultaneously, listening how the winds play in the spruce's top.
The troll speaks with silent words to the spruce. It tells about the stories it has seen, about the songs it has heard, about the bear, the fox and a little wolf. The spruce imbibes the stories in its phloem, as a windy day's song in its shoot.
One day the troll will rise from its immobility. It rests against the spruce, unfolding the stories that were carried by winds in form of hum from tree to tree, from troll to troll.

Vesi
Peikko auttaa. Järven koko olemus kirkastuu ja metsässä tuntuu puhtaan veden tuoksu. Järvi käy altaaseensa pitkäkseen, kääntää kylkeään ja kehrää tyytyväisenä.

Water
The troll walks on the water and the snow grates under its feet. The lake giggles gently while the troll's feet tickles its back. It twists its back to get the most itching point under the troll's feet. Finally it stands up with the noise of breaking ice.
The troll hurries on its shoulder. The lake stretches itself and says hello to the troll after noticing it on its shoulder. The lake straightens its arm and the troll swims on nearly vertically standing water on the shore and starts to persuade the snow to come nearer.
The lake scrapes the snow up. It rubs itself and all its slimy stones with handfuls of snow. The troll helps. The quintessence of the lake becomes clear and in the forest the smell of clean water can be smelt. The lake lies down on its pool, turns around and purrs contentedly.
Ilma

Wind
The wind whistles in troll's ears while it seeks trollnuts walking with its seven-league boots. The troll becomes tired with the whistling and stops for a while to pat its ears.
The patting doesn't help but the whistling continues. The troll detaches its ears and beats them against its knee. The wind in the ears rolls out on the troll's knee. The troll grabs it with its black nails, raises it before its face staring strictly to its eyes. The wind makes a horn of its lips and utters a long and rejoicing whistling.
The troll feels a little like laughing and it starts to race-whistle with the wind. Then it pours all the whistling from its whistling-filled ears into heather where it winds like a hundred snakes. The troll engages the ears and continues on its way. The wind hangs on the troll's tail whistling joyfully.
Tuli
Pimeys nousee siivilleen luvaten palata. Peikko irvistää virnistyksen.

Fire
The darkness gets down into the forest. It folds its wings and knocks on the troll's door. The troll opens and asks the darkness to enter the cave.
They sit in silence until the darkness encourages and asks: "May I see it again?"
The troll consents and digs its pockets. There, covered by birch bark, deep in ash, in a sparkle, lives the fire. The troll pours the ashes on its palm, seeks the sparkle and blowing gently, offers it a piece of tinder. The fire reaches out of the sparkle, devours all the tinder and soughs for more.
The darkness nods. Noticing that the troll promises: "We'll build a bonfire". The fire leaps from the sparkle and escapes to the forest. From there it brings dry firewood to the bonfire and starts dancing on it. The darkness is charmed by fire's dance, inhales it and transforms a little out of existence.
The darkness gets on its wings and promises to be back. The troll grins a grimace.

Control Gear
A young automation engineer brags and promises to solve all customers' problems by placing a few control gears hither and thither, and by coupling a couple of loops to avoid overly electronic cavitations. The young engineer has just completed his final exams and is brimming with full confidence in his new job.
Engineer's feet buckle when he meets with his new female colleague, an economist, who has sold her customer promises of tomorrow with huge growth in cash flow. The woman meets all the requirements of what the engineer considers as an ideal woman. He performs a thorough in-depth analysis on her against his idea on womanhood and is unable to find any deviations over his predefined tolerances on it.
With his head half-confused, the engineer takes his place on his drawing board and starts to plan a solution for a customer's problem presented to him by the woman, the economist. In the engineer's thoughts, the woman's face and body springs up mixed with the customer's expectations.
The young woman, the economist, approaches the engineer in a hot tempered way. She looks at the engineer grimly and hits him hard on his face. The engineer is surprised at her reaction. He faces up to the circumstances and asks the woman her reason for the violent behavior.
- We installed the control gear with the customer. It was an immediate success. The process behaved like a dream. I, however, was forced to press the panic button and stop the contraption altogether.
- Why on earth? asks the young engineer with amazement.
- The control gear had an effect on me, too. It started to optimize my happiness. And I just began to feel too good in front of the customer. I had to stop the contraption at the last possible moment. Later, I would not have been able to stop it, let alone not want to stop it.
The young engineer browses the circuit diagram of the control gear he planned earlier. The young woman, the economist, looks at him from every wiring, behind every component and every module. Eventually, the engineer understands the ultimate connections in the wiring. He selects the right tool, bends his body over the diagram and removes the frivolous panic switch.

Vetoketju
Laiha keltainen koira tulee varoen liki miestä. Mies ojentaa koiralle loput makkarasta.
Mies on taantunut muistikuviinsa eikä reagoi mitenkään koiran poistumiseen. Nousee lopulta omatekoisesta suostaan, ryhdistäytyy ja lähtee tapaamaan elämänsä naista kokeillakseen saisiko sielunsa vetoketjun avattua.

Zipper
A man sits on a bench under a cold drizzle. He digs a piece of sausage from his bags and takes a bite. He leans backward without even trying to protect himself from the rain, which mixes with tears that quietly flows from his eyes.
A skinny yellow dog cautiously appears before the man. The man gives the rest of the sausage to the dog. The dog gulps the sausage and sits down next to him. He wipes his eyes and stretches out his hand toward the dog. The dog sniffs his hand but does not allow the man to touch itself.
- It was just a game of hide and seek. Just a comedy. Always did I play a role, says the man in a low voice to the dog. - Always. I was never able to tell her what I really wanted or what was important to me. Not even to myself. I kept on hiding behind my own thoughts.
The dog tilts its head interrogatorily and whisks its tail.
- Her smile truly touched my soul, the man continues. - I was afraid of that. I feared that I might reveal myself. And I did not want anybody to know, I did not want to get hurt.
The dog sniffs the man's bags and barks inquiringly. The man spins his head showing his empty hands to the dog.
- You know what, dog? says the man. - I think that she also hid from herself. She also played a role that she believed she should play. There we were, two incompetents of us playing in the same comedy, each one hiding from oneself and from each other. And neither even found oneself, not to mention the other one.
The dog raises its leg and pisses on the man's rain-soaked bags. The man has sunk to his memories and does not react to the dog's exit. Eventually he rises from his self-made depression, straightens up and leaves to meet the woman of his life. He wants to test if he can open the zipper of his soul.

Ranta
Suurten puiden lomassa on polku. Puut humisevat uteliaasti totutellen uuteen oloonsa. Kävyt kiljuvat riemusta peikon annettua niille huimaa kyytiä ja hieman peloteltua niitä.
Peikko istuu rannalle ja kaivaa varpaansa kallioon. Sen käsi koskettaa aaltojen tasoittamaa rantahiekkaa. Peikko tuntee hiekan lämmön ja kostean sileyden.
Rantahiekka nousee ja käy istumaan peikon viereen. Hetken ne antavat katseensa levätä samassa hetkessä. Rantahiekan pinnalta varisee pieniä hiekan jyväsiä jatkuvana virtana aiheuttaen hiljaisen jatkuvan kihinän.
Rantahiekka katsoo peikkoa ja kihinän rytmi muuttuu. Peikko kaivaa taskustaan huilun, josta peikon sormien hivellessä liukuu laineinen luritus. Rantahiekka ottaa muutaman tanssiaskeleen ojentautuen peikkoa kohden.
Peikko ja rantahiekka tanssivat pienten kvartsihiukkasten pilven kimallellessa niiden ympärillä. Varisevan hiekan kihinä laantuu hiekan asettautuessa rannalle jyvänen jyväseltä tanssin kuvaksi. Jyvänen rantahiekkaa jää lähelle peikon sydäntä.

The Beach
There is a path in the midst of the giant trees. The troll has wandered through the forest teasing trees and tossing cones around. For fun, it has switched and mixed the tops of the trees. The trees keep on humming while getting used to their new being. Although the cones are somewhat frightened of the troll, they yell joyfully at the vast speed of its hurl.
The troll sits down on the beach and pokes its toes into the bedrock. Its hand touches the sand that is smoothed by the waves. The troll feels the warmth and the moist velvet touch of the sand.
The sand gets on its feet and sits down beside the troll. For a while, their gazes rest at the same moment. Little grits are falling from the surface of the sand, creating a hushed continuous hissing voice.
The sand looks at the troll and the rhythm of the hissing voice changes. From its pocket, the troll digs a flute from which flows out wavy sounds and ditties. The sand pursues dancing and tenderly beckons the troll.
The troll and the sand are dancing amid a cloud of little glittery quartz crystals. The sound of falling grits fades away while the sand, grain by grain, takes its place and shape on the beach composing a picture of the dance. A granule of the sand remains near the heart of the troll.

Oksa
Jaloissaan sillä on koppuroiksi kovettuneet kiveräkärkiset pieksut. Partakin takkuinen ja ruokkoamaton.
Saunatonttu penkoo varastoa hakien jotain, jolla irrottaa kutina itsestään.
Siisteihin, joskin hiukan kosteisiin vaatteisiin pukeutunut puhdas saunatonttu istuu vanhan saunan portaalla puuroa pistellen. Se haroo suittua partaansa tuumien osaisiko vanha saunatonttu ruveta kotitontuksi. Tuumittuaan kyllikseen se vie taittamansa oksan sisälle senkin päällä olevaan vaasiin, suorii maton tupsut ja piiloutuu hellan takana olevaan rakoon tehden olonsa kotoisaksi.

The Sprig
There are rumors spreading that the old sauna which is used as a warehouse is kind of spooky. Things that are stored in there will never be the same anymore. The pair of shoes may miss the other shoe or they both may be left feet shoes. The tip of the skies may become topsy-turvy or the binding may get lose and lost. Even an iron bar may become knotted and all texts may appear to be written in some alien language.
The sauna gnome living in the old sauna is frustrated and so dirty that it itches all the time and everywhere. Its grey coat and miter are blackened with grime; filth has stiffened its trousers as rigid as plywood. On its foot it wears crooked tipped shoes that are hardened through. Even its beard is tangled and shaggy.
The sauna gnome rummages through the warehouse seeking for something to get rid of its itching. Nothing helps. The gnome groans and hurls things all around the warehouse swearing and flinging expletives and thus, creating increasing disorder.
The woman walks in, sees the walls darkened with soot and likes what she sees. Behind shambles, she sees the old sauna as a homely lodge, as a place in which she knows she will enjoy staying. Without hesitating, she takes all debris out of the room, sweeps up, and arranges her belongings the way she likes them to be. The old sauna oven is replaced with a little wood stove and a wall cloth hangs on a wall just above the old iron bedstead. A chest of drawers adorns the window wall.
In the evening, the woman heats water on the wood stove, pours it into a washbasin on the washstand, and leaves to fetch more water from the well. When she returns, she notices that the water in the washbasin has become very black. The woman smiles aloud and replaces the water with clean water. Before going to bed, she cooks a potful of porridge and leaves it to cool down on the edge of the stove. The handle of a wooden spoon sticks out below the lid of the pot.
A clean gnome wearing dirt free clothes that are still a little damp sits on the stone step of the old sauna and eats the porridge. It strokes its tidy beard and ponders if an old sauna gnome could become a home gnome. After deliberating over it thoroughly, the gnome plucks a sprig and takes it to a vase on the chest of drawers. Then it straightens all the carpet tassels and hides inside the hole behind the wood stove and makes itself cozy.
